Career Reflection Exercises

Thinking more deeply about yourself can help to clarify how your job fits in and help you to brainstorm where you should look. Perhaps you just need a bit of a refresh, like a new job in the same industry. Or, maybe you are ready to think about a bigger leap into a brand new career.

You can really get lost going in circles thinking this through, and it’s very useful to have some structure.

These self-assessments are almost all free. Each one should take no longer than 15-20 minutes.

You may notice that there is no Personality assessment in the mix, like the MBTI. The validity and reliability of these assessments are controversial. In my field of career coaching, there are folks with a wide range of personality profiles, and they all do the work successfully, but in slightly different ways. However, if you feel that your personality as described by an MBTI or similar assessment is important in your career thought process, feel free to include it.

Time for some self-reflection!
